about

This website began as an assignment for “Art History 295: Interrogating Contemporary Art since 1980” at Kalamazoo College in spring 2012. On these pages, we aim to bring a critical eye to visual and performing arts in Kalamazoo, Michigan and its environs. By focusing on recent art and culture that is produced or consumed locally, we seek to discover important contributions that help shape or challenge contemporary culture. Equally, the essays here will bring local art into dialogue with broader issues in the art world.
